1. Colors, Fragrance, &beauty with Flowers and Vases:
The interior of a room or any nook can be done
beautifully by adding plants and flowers strategically. Around Diwali, you can
buy bouquets from vendors selling them on the streets and put them in a wide
variety of Vases. You can also use artificial flowers and leaves to decorate.
The vases can be of any variety made of glass, rubber, fiber, or metal depending
on the rest of the interior.
2 Lights, candles, and Diyas:
One can beautify any room by adding fairy lights. Though most people prefer to add fairy lights to decorate balconies and exteriors, they can also be used inside the house to spruce up windows, mirrors, and walls.
Beautiful sce
Beautiful scented or non-scented, white, or
colorful artificial candles are a must-have decoration item. You can arrange
them in glass tea-light holders, float them in Urulis or place them in
earherndiyas.
Many different chandeliers and other not-so-expensive light fixtures can also be added to improve interiors. There are glass bell jars, aesthetically pleasing lights, and other options to help you elevate the space without spending heftily. There are these clips with lights to clip on photographs and create a hanging wall feature.
3. Wall:
If you are not interested in painting the
entire house, you can simply add an accent to the room by painting a single
wall or you can use wallpaper to bring character to the wall. Also there are
wall stickers that can be put on wall and accentuate overall look of the room.
Alternately wall metal and wood decoration
items can be hung. Some other options are paintings, wall clocks, wall accents,
Macramé hangings etc.
This task does not require you to invest weeks and thousands into it and instantly liven up any room.
4 Showpieces:
Metallic showpieces have a rustic
finish that adds a blend of elegance and traditional touch to an otherwise
modern space. Moreover, there is no better time than Diwali to experiment with
home décor.
If you have old large metallic
vessels at home, you can place them around the corners and edges of the
hallway, living room, corridor and balconies. Fill them with water, add flowers
and petals and light floating diyas and candles in them. The different metallic
showpieces of gods and goddesses in different artistic representation make an
excellent idea for a central show piece. The idols can be placed in center with
flowers arranged over it along with diyas or fairy lights.
5 .Traditional Diwali Décor Items
Diwali seems incomplete without adding a new Toran
(ornamented and colourful strings added to the main doors and gates in the
house) to the main gate. Much like that, you can decorate the temple at home.
A beautiful Rangoli is another way to add
colours to the space. You can either opt for powdered colours or flowers to
craft a vibrant piece of art.
Earthen lamps coloured in multiple hues arranged
in a pattern look great.
6. Furnishing
Another easy and effective way to
add colours to the living room is by adding cushions, throw pillows and carpets.
We are not talking about replacing old furniture with new.
You just have to decide on a colour
palette according to the colour of the wall of your living room. Raw silk,
mirror work and velvet cushions covers make the furnishing appear more
colourful and welcoming. Multi-hued carpets over white floor or solid colored
carpets over light coloured floor make everything look great.
7. Tableware
How can the celebration be complete
without the eating experience? Everyone wants to buy something for the kitchen,
be it appliances or utility items for Diwali. One should take benefit of the
ongoing discounts in the festival season and stack up their kitchen.
The eating experience can be
increased by sprucing up the dining room. One can add tableware, colourful
crockery, tablecloth, napkins to the table setting. Some ceramic jars can be
arranged nicely on the dining table. They don’t add flavour to the food, but
introduce a fine dining experience at home.
So, apply the ideas given above and
enjoy Diwali with lot of colour, lights and aplomb.
